Although, as you might have understood already, the religion I’m most interested in is our real European faith, ÁSATRÚ, but there are also systems of beliefs, spiritual traditions, and philosophies from other lands that are of great interest to me.

For example, the religion of India is very fascinating. It actually has many similarities to Ásatrú (after all, they’re both Aryan religions), but HINDUISM also has quite a few unique aspects. The most important Hindu religious scriptures are VEDAS, UPANISHADS, the BHAGAVAD GITA, and RAMAYANA. The Hindu religion has many, many different deities, but my favorite is KRISHNA, a mischievous blue-skinned child-god — incarnate of VISHNU on earth — who plays a flute and plays with children. Another Hindu branch is that of the Saivites, who worship the god SHIVA. Also, I like the god GANESH, who has an elephant head and is fond of sweets.

Here are some links about several famous Hindu gurus:

Jiddu Krishnamurti -- Swami Vivekananda -- Paramahansa Yogananda
Ramakrishna -- Meher Baba -- Sathya Sai Baba

Another oriental religion, BUDDHISM, especially TIBETAN BUDDHISM, is also of great interest to me because of their teachings of non-violence and peace. I think it is especially important these days, in this modern “consumer” age, to take heed of the Buddhist teachings of living an ascetic life and giving up unnecessary worldly goods.

I like also the Japanese ZEN Buddhist sect, because of their aesthetic principles, such as making their famed perfect “ROCK GARDENS.” Here is a website that has lots of PHOTOS of rock gardens in Japan.

Also quite interesting oriental religion is that of TAOISM.

Although nowadays ISLAM is the chief religion of the Middle East (as well as in many other parts of Asia), this particular region used to have many fascinating religions during its ancient history, such as, for example, ZOROASTRIANISM. In my opinion, the most interesting was the CULT OF MITHRAS.

An interesting Middle Eastern Islamic sect is SUFISM, which is a mystical movement that emerged sometime in the 12th century. It is unusual because it stresses the need to relate to God in a personal way. Especially interesting is the religious Order of the WHIRLING DERVISHES. Many famous people, among them the philosopher GEORGE GURDJIEFF, have studied the mystical meaning of the dervish dance.

Another religion that originated in the Middle East is JUDAISM. What can I say about it? Well, this excellent on-line book by an Israeli professor explains pretty much everything.

Now, I’ve written quite a bit already on my special Ásatrú page about how Christianity cost humanity many centuries of savage violence — the millions of lives brutalized, sacrificed to wars, torture, burning, Inquisition, genocide... In my opinion, Christianity is truly the worst disaster of whole human history. I’m not simply stating here only my own opinion that Christianity is evil and also a lie through and through — this is a subject that has been studied by historians and philosophers throughout the centuries. So, I’ve found many websites that will expose to you Christianity for what it really is.

And, yes, I want to make it very clear here that Christianity is indeed a religion I don’t like at all. Of course, I understand that there are many individual Christians who are good people, but what I’m talking about is the overall role of Christianity and the Christian churches in our history, and that role always was and still is very destructive.
